What to Expect at the Spa?
Punctuality--Please arrive at least 20 minutes before your scheduled appointment. If you are late your treatment will be shortened because the therapist and treatment room are generally booked after your session. After your treatment it is customary to vacate the room within five minutes. You are welcome to spend as much time as you like continuing to unwind in our relaxation area after your treatment.
Arrival--Please arrive at least 20 minutes before your scheduled appointment. If this is your first visit to our spa there will be some paperwork for you to complete and you will be given a tour prior to the beginning of your service.
Cancellations-- We request that you give us as much notice as possible in the event that you need to cancel an appointment. Appointments that are cancelled with less than 4 hours notice will be charged 50% of the service fee and any no shows for appointments will be charged the full service fee.
Attire-- Most people come to the spa in very casual attire-something they can easily slip off and store in a small locker. You will be provided a robe and slippers to wear during you time in the spa, if you are receiving hydortherapy treatments you may bring your swim suit if you do not wish to be nude. We also provide towels for use in the sauna oand showers.
Jewelry-- If possible leave your jewelry at home as you will not need during your time at the spa. If you do arrive wearing jewelry please lock it in your locker with the rest of your belongings. Kalianas Spa & Wellness is not responsible for lost, stolen or misplaced items.
Communicating your Preferences-- All aspects of your treatment can usually be modified to your taste: amount of light, kind and volume of music (or absence of), temperature, and wether or not you choose to have a conversation or enjoy the treatment in silence. If you want the therapist to go deeper or be gentler, let her know. Also, feel free to ask questions. Your therapist will appreciate knowing your thoughts and clarifying any issues you may have. If any part of your treatment is unsatisfactory first tell the therapist and if the response if not helpful then please ask to speak to a supervisor.
Medical Conditions-- If you have any type of medical condition please be sure to mention it when you are booking your appointment. Certain treatments may not be advisable for you. Also, before your treatment begins, let your therapist or esthetician know of any medical concerns. Tell the esthetician if you are wearing contact lens before your facial begins.
Nudity Issues-- It is never required that you be unclothed in front of anyone in the spa. There are places that you can change into your robe in private. Towels and robes are provided so that you can remain continually covered. Our therapists are well trained in the art of draping which means they will leave the treatment room while you get under the sheet on the massage table, and they keep you covered at all times except for the area of the body they are working on. They also leave the room at the end of the treatment before you get up from the table. If you feel more comfortable you may keep your under garments or a bathing suit on during your treatments or in the saunas, though most people prefer to wear nothing under their robe.
Shaving-- If you must shave on the day of your treatment please do so at least 2 hours before your scheduled treatment particularly if you are a man receiving a facial or a woman receiving a body treatment. Gratuities-- Gratuity is not included in the price of the treatment. 15-20% is customary for each person who provided services, you may of course leave more or less depending on the quality of the service. It is easiest to leave the gratuity at the reception desk when you are checking out, and we provide small envelopes that you may write an note on for your therapist.
Using shared facilities-- While in the relax area please keep your robe and sandals on. While in the sauna you may choose to wear a towel or swim suit.
